What an end to our Hooks & Reels year.

An amazing night of song, stories, and celebrating our community. The atmosphere was everything the Abbey Tavern is traditionally known for, great musicians, storytelling and gatherings.

We paid tribute to Patrice Hamilton with her story The Glory Box dedicated to her son Conor. It was a lovely story Patrice cherished and we miss her in life and on Friday mornings. (R.I.P) Patrice was a champion of the workshops.

Writers Catherine Whelan, Conor Kiernan, Colm Quearney, Lee Page, and Eoghan Ryan, presented stories that ranged from memories of St Fintan's church being built in the late 60's, a mother with dementia remembering her love of reading, Time and the Sea was a story of local legendary fishing family, Mary and Val Moore, to collecting pallets for bonfire with your brother and lastly a funny story about addiction that only Eoghan Ryan can deliver.

Dave McChesney Joined Lee Page for the adaption of the story Time and the Sea to song and tune and it was a delight.

Saltaire came with the big band of 5 musicians and new tunes. They absolutely rocked the house.

Chris Boland managed the new sound and lighting system like the true pro that he is, and we had a flawless night. Thanks to Chris, he is part of the Hooks and Reels team and we couldn't do it without him.
