March offers a rich lineup of writing workshops and events designed to inspire creativity, support wellbeing, and explore your life stories. Whether you prefer in-person gatherings or online sessions, this month presents opportunities to connect with fellow writers, explore your life stories, and nurture your passion for writing. Take a look at what’s happening and how you can benefit from these unique experiences.

In-Person Workshops and Celebrations
The month kicks off with a hands-on writing workshop on Friday 6th March, running from 10 am to 1 pm. This session offers a focused environment to develop your writing skills, share ideas, and receive feedback. It’s perfect for anyone looking to start a memoir, short story collection, creative projects or refine their storytelling.
The following day, Saturday 7th March, features a special event celebrating women. This gathering is more than just a workshop; it’s a celebration of female voices and experiences. Expect inspiring talks, group writing exercises, and opportunities to connect with like-minded women who support each other’s creative journeys.
On Sunday 8th March, the focus shifts to wellbeing with the Dahā wellness writing workshop. This event combines writing with wellness practices, emphasizing how writing can support mental and emotional health. The theme of women supporting women runs strongly here, creating a nurturing space for personal growth and healing through words.
Online Writing Opportunities
For those who prefer to join from home, there is a new online writing session starting on Wednesday 11th March from 7 pm to 9 pm. This workshop has limited availability, with only one space left to engage in a live, interactive writing experience without leaving your space. The session encourages participants to explore new writing and their own life stories and share their work in a supportive virtual community.
Special Events and Retreats
On Tuesday 26th March, join us to hear our young adult stories in our first Hooks & Reels of 2026. Our events will showcase six local writers or guests and their stories along with the music of siblings Katie and Jack Brennan, Howth favourites and a beautiful duo with dynamic folk songs and raw musical talent.
From 28th March to 4th April, the Suryalila Retreat offers a unique blend of sun, fun, writing, and yoga. This week-long retreat is designed for those who want to deepen their writing practice while enjoying a relaxing environment. The combination of yoga and writing helps participants find balance, creativity, and inspiration in a beautiful setting.

Upcoming Fundraiser and Surprise Event
Looking ahead, mark your calendar for 23rd April at the Howth Yacht Club, where a fundraiser event will feature the Hooks & Reels annual event to support another local group doing amazing things in our community. This event supports the Howth Sutton Autism Community, combining creative expression with a meaningful cause. It’s a chance to contribute to the community while honing your writing skills. Send in your story themed to 'Our differences' 800 words of non-fiction and see if you can become our next big storyteller at our fantastic commuity events.
Finally, on 30th April, a SURPRISE event is planned. Details are under wraps, but it promises to be an exciting addition to the spring lineup. Keep an eye out for announcements to secure your spot.

These workshops and events provide a supportive environment to grow as writers and individuals. They blend creativity with community and wellbeing, making March a month full of opportunities to enrich your writing life.
