We (Lara and the writers of the workshop, plus guests) are delighted to announce our debut non-fiction publication.

The Power of the Prompt is a lyrical blend of memoir and guide. Narrated by Lara O'Brien on her return to her coastal hometown of Howth, Ireland to start and facilitate Howth Writing Workshops. What begins with an 'invite to write' becomes a group interested in their life story, writing, and creative people willing to discover the transformative power of writing.

Through the rhythm of the Celtic calendar and the beauty of the sea, she builds a vibrant creative community—from intimate writing circles to the electric Hooks & Reels gatherings celebrating emerging voices in words and music.

From prompt pieces to fully developed stories from the writers of Howth Writing Workshop, the book serves as a map and model for any town or village to build a creative group and enrich their town by writing, gathering, and sharing.

This is a book about beginnings, belonging, and simple prompts that can change and enrich a community.

Perfect for writers, teachers, facilitators, and anyone longing to create, connect, and be inspired.

We are launching on April 30th in The Abbey Tavern in Howth. (details to follow)
