Lara O’Brien is offering a writing retreat set in one of Ireland’s unique fishing villages and prime locations, Howth, a peninsula that lies 11 miles from Dublin city and is a writer’s muse of extraordinary beauty. In a carefully chosen venue, Tara Hall, we will provide the perfect setting to write each morning and an opportunity to experience the character and heart of one of Ireland's jewels that is Howth.
Five mornings writing to prompts that will lead you to read, receive feedback and reflect on your life’s story. Explore connections to heritage and ancestors, events and relationships that are most significant and map out the turning points of a life well lived.

Monday The Literary Trail.
Walk the beautiful grounds of Howth Castle and hear about its historic and famous visitors including Grace O'Malley the Pirate Queen, Jonathan Swift and HG Wells.
Follow in the footsteps of literary giants such Yeats and Lord Byron who resided in Howth and songwriter Bono who got married here.
We will take you through the enchanted forest where you will be surrounded by stunning Rhododendrons, Aideen's Grave and the Castle grounds. Take in 360 degree views of the islands, Howth, Dublin, Wicklow and Mourne mountains.
Empowered women, by land and by sea.
Take a page out of Grace O'Malley's book with a boat trip to explore Ireland's Eye. We will discuss the legendary story of her visit to Howth, her life as a pirate queen and the importance of her legacy. Ireland's Eye Ferries
Hitting the town and having a Hooley.
Night of traditional Irish fare, music and dance in the 12th Century Old Abbey Tavern, Howth.
Early morning Pier walk.
Final group writing session with Howth Writing WORKSHOP Group.
Reading/presentation of a polished piece to local writers.
You don’t want to drive in Ireland? We will arrange a pick-up. Howth is approx. 9 miles, once you are there you won’t need a car! Everything is nearby and within walking distance. If you want to get some city life before or after the workshop, the DART train or bus takes you right into the heart of Dublin city within 20-30 minutes. Golf, Hiking, Dublin City, Wine and Seafood tours available for non-writers. Just Ask.
