Thank you to all who attended the Irish Cultural Centre in Canton, Boston, October 19th. It was brilliant to sit in the thatched cottage and write with our group, fireside. While outside there was a busy clash and buzz of swords, knitters, traditional music, and a roaring beer festival.
We wrote about heritage, the gift of cultural inheritance and focused on memories that uncovered stories of importance.
The next day on Martha's Vineyard we had a wonderful full day of Yoga, meditation and a fresh lunch prepared by Lucia Hayman. In the afternoon we wrote to prompts leading us to unearth and reveal our life stories. Many of the participants had never been to either a yoga or a writing class and gave some great testimonies.
The day was sponsored by the MV Cultural Council and the beautiful venue and lunch were donated as a community giveback.. The council supports the arts and gave me a wonderful start in hosting week long retreats at Featherstone for the Arts last year.
Onwards... we are writing into the winter in Howth. As the daylight diminished rapidly and the winds kicked up, we lit the fire and 'put the pen to the page'.
We have a steady Friday group. Each week brings new prompts that poke and prod our memories, our point of view, our empathy as each story unfolds, our learning and our understanding.
Magic happens here. Join us any Friday.
Tuesday we've started a new group. We work on craft. The writers bring pages each week and they leave with constructive feedback and edits to apply and continue to write forward. Focus, structure and craft are all at play. So proud of the work that is being done here.
Launching the May Retreat.
I'm leaving you with the flyer for May 2020. Please share with anyone you think may be interested. Everything is doable. Want to write only that week? Email me.
I'm so very, very excited to get this week going annually.
When Tara Hall fills we will be booking into The Georgian Rooms and The King Sitric
The writing venue is the AMAZING front room of Tara Hall.
