Take a good look at yourself!
Lara O’Brien was born in Dublin and raised in Howth Riding Stables, tending horses on the East Mountain. In 1994 she emigrated to the US and lives on the sister island of Martha’s Vineyard where she remains a committed writing workshop participant and workshop facilitator. In 2014, after the publication of her children’s novel, Lara began teaching workshops and high school classes in writing for self discovery and mapping your life in story.
Lara began Howth Writing Workshop, a women’s writing retreat in 2017. She connects her love of writing, Ireland and adventure with others who wish to safely fall in love with a new place and reconnect with self.
“Over ten years of writing daily and deep reflection what showed up clearly way a solid connection to spiritual places, and Howth was always there, it was my own connection to home. I wanted to combine my love of place with my love of writing.
In the writing retreat, set in a jewel of an Irish village, Howth, you will write to short prompts as a keyhole into our life story. It can recreate or renew our story, it can bring you to the truth. It is the curiosity trail into our lives. By writing to short prompts, giving and receiving feedback and light edits, we will hear what is important to you, your life and your relationships. Be brave. We are there to support and listen.
5 mornings of writing and afternoons of exploring. The workshop is designed to map our lives, in memories, events and relationships that we hold important. We will share our life’s map and that of Howth's best, together. We breath into our stories of love and loss, punctuated with laughter tears and split open with moments of clarity and realization. Howth will help you along your adventure."
