After an incredible day workshop with Joan Paquette of the Erin Murphy Agency in May and then a full week with Emma Dryden of drydenbks, editor fantasticio, and a gentle wise woman in the editing and children's book world, I rebooted, recharged, and in the spirit of summer on the Vineyard #nuttypace#OMG slowthefeckdownweonlydrive45pmh...I began to rewrite. #Very happy. Why so happy? Because the complete recharge came from Noepe Center for Literary Arts in Edgartown, (6 miles outside my door) And why is that so special? Because I didn't have to go to NY or LA to get the best teachers and advice within the children's book industry#veryveryhappy. Now all the tools, worksheets, and advise these teachers gave me have been put into action on the page. Best way ever. I got hiking, with time to think and rethink, on a 10 day writing trip to Santa Fe to revise and edit two works in progress. Chesca and Rogue, a YA fiction Romance, and a second WIP, The secret dance, a romance/drama for adults that has lots of very important, relative...curse words. On cursing...it's so hard to use my beloved feck, with autocorrect on, decking this and decking that. Makes it a completely different meaning, decking someone in Ireland means giving them a head butt! Ahh, deck it, autocorrect. Thanks Grandma Robinson and Noepe Center for the literary Arts. #drydenbks#amwriting#joanpaquette#noepelitcntr | Birthday boots for hiking and getting it done#WIP |
