I pushed the button and sent the last remaining comments to my publisher. My own little victory. It's taken a few years.
It's a children's book set in Ireland, the story of a young girl, Chesca, who must find a way to save her home, farm and way of life. She meets her challenges, and when faced with the tough questions, like how to find the way forward, when everything seems lost? The answer, she learns, and one that comes to us all at some point in our lives - do what you do best.
For Chesca, it is an unusual practice of Trick Riding, standing on her head, galloping side-ways, standing on the horse's back at full speed. She must use her talents to put on the show of a lifetime.
But what is her want? What is the driving want of the story? She wants to be accepted by her peers, loved by friends, and recognized within her community, with all her oddities and differences, with all her quirks and dreamy ways, she wants to be accepted, just as she is.
