One of my first reviews ~"This book is perfect," Ruairi Mullin, aged ten, test reader, the Tisbury School, Martha's Vineyard.
I love this little review. He's all boy, short and to the point, with no wasted words.
Of course the proofs arrived and I see Chesca and the Spirit is not perfect yet, and I might need glasses. There are full stops in a few very funny places. How they were missed in, "these are my final edits?" I don't know, I was clearly not finished. My husband, the technical writer and engineer, sat down to review those final edits. The devil is in the details and he is a scrupulous devil, checking hyphens and comma usage and semi colon appropriateness and I briefly thought about pushing him off his chair for being so painfully correct,(coming from a place of love, naturally,) but yet again, he's right and the attention to detail was for the better good.
Back to the pre-view and on with publishing.
Launch details to be announced soon. Sending the proofs to the newspapers, booking author talks at the schools, and putting a lot of thought into Chesca and the Spirit.
